I was so thrilled to join a bipartisan group of women (and men!) who gathered on the Alabama State House steps on March 8, 2012 to protest against the proposed Alabama SB12 bill with OsborneInk. If you’re not familiar with the bill in question, you can read it in it’s entire legeal-ese here. Or, you can let me break it down into a simple paragraph for you:
If you are a woman with mysterious lady parts, the State of Alabamastan & the Christian Taliban (the Alabama Legislature) want to FORCE you to undergo a (medically unneccessary & invasive) transvaginal ultrasound & be told by the poor doctor who just wants to help you exactly what you’re doing, missy, because old white male (and some female) Alabama politicians know what’s best for you, young lady. Oh, and if you’re a rape or incest victim, there’s no exclusion for you, because you should’ve known better than to walk around the state of Alabama with a vajay-jay not safely ensconced in a chastity belt.
